  • All clients/participants in Black Outdoor Omnivore Fishing, Crabbing, and Mushrooming activities/programs are required to read, and submit a liability waiver and photo release.

  • License not required for mushrooming, crabbing, and art activities.

    A valid Maine State fishing license is required for anyone age 16 or older before participating in any fishing related activities with B.O.O. guide services.

    You can buy Maine State hunting and fishing licensees online and in-person at various entities in Maine.

    On free fishing days (February 14-15, 2026 & May 30-31, 2026) any person (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license.

  • A list of Maine’s inland fresh water species can be found at the MDIFW website. B.O.O. guide services will typically target Maine’s warm water species.

  • Many of Maine’s warm water species have little to no restrictons. There may be special regulations for specific bodies of water. You can find details on catch and length limits for each game fish species at the MDIFW website.

    There is a general freshwater fish consumption advisory for the entire State of Maine! The advisories for Taylor Pond in Auburn are in line with advisories for the entire State (Pregnant, nursing, and pregnancy-expecting individuals should eat no freshwater fish in Maine) and there are currently no special advisories for this body of water.

  • Yes! They will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own as well. All clients or participants are required to wear a life vest while on kayak and canoe trips with B.O.O guide services. State law requires each person on board watercraft to have a properly fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved serviceable life jacket.
